Sad, in so many ways. I’ll tell you something though, the moment somebody tells me that I cannot preach the Word is the moment I begin shouting it from the rooftops.

I’ve believed for a while that the strongest members of the church are those who live under persecution; the harder Satan’s kingdom pushes against us, the fiercer the Spirit gets, it seems.

To continue that thought, perhaps freedom of religion is a bad thing — there’s no threat, nothing to sharpen our faith or force us into deeply dependent relationships with God. Many (I say again, many) within the church will be shown to be rocky ground hearers — their faith burned up by the persecution they will face. Still many others will soak up that persecution and use it to grow.

I’ve not faced true persecution; should it ever come, I trust that I will remain faithful.
