Introduction to Using Firebug

If you’ve not been following the Thesis community lately, then you have missed the dawn of Thesis video support. I hope to create and publish all sorts of official DIYthemes videos, but already video support has moved beyond Chris [amp] myself with a great video from Kristarella on using Firebug to do various style inspection, testing, and learning. I highly recommend the video if you’re new to styling your site. Oh, and as always, if you’re not using Thesis to power your blog, you’re missing out!

  1. Hi Rick, I enjoyed the video and like the look of Firefly (though I’ve tried to use it it the past and couldn’t get it working I think i’ll try again) my question is what are you using to edit your custom css in the video, I use front page but what you used looks better?

I use Macromedia Dreamweaver — it’s fairly expensive, but it does everything I could want — site management, file transfer, code hints, syntax highlighting, and more.

Although, I’d recommend Microsoft Notepad before ever recommending Frontpage, unless it’s gone through monumental improvements since my having used it back in ‘00.

@Annie: I recommend Aptana Studio. The community edition is free and has all the features you’d expect from an Adobe product. It is based on the popular Eclipse IDE, but a lot lighter.
