Ricky Skaggs in Three Videos

The following three videos are dedicated to my friend Sandi, who — even though she is a genius by birth — will in all probability either not watch these vids or watch ‘em and dislike ‘em. :P Here’s to you, Sandi!

The first song is called “Halfway Home Café” by Ricky Skaggs & his band Kentucky Thunder; it’s a wonderful song about forgiveness and reconciliation and is one of Skaggs’ more beautiful works.

Next is “I’m Ready to Go,” also by Skaggs & his band. This one’s an up-tempo, lively song in anticipation of being with our Lord:

Finally, here’s one of Skaggs with several other musicians, notably Jerry Douglas from Alison Krauss’ band Union Station; it’s called “A Simple Life”:

Enjoy, and remember: Country rocks, but bluegrass rules!

Rick-I feel so special with an entry dedicated to me :) I did watch and like all 3 vidoes. Bluegrass is not one of my favorite types of music, but it is ok in small doses. As I told Alicia, I just cannot see you as a Bluegrass fan. It just seems a little “hillbilly” for you who is not al all a country guy. Anyway, thanks for the post and letting me and Michelle steal you wife for the night. We had a good time.

Well, I suppose I’ll take that as a compliment that you wouldn’t have associated “hillbilly” with me; such associations are rarely positive,it seems.

But bluegrass music has some great memories associated with it, and I’ve never stopped loving the sound of it.

Further, it’s the only style of music I can get away with sounding halfway decent at when I pick up my guitar. :)
